Terms of Service

These terms are a contract between you and OJ Labs Ltd, trading as RoboStudio ("RoboStudio", "we", "us"). By creating an account or otherwise using the service you agree to them.

The service

RoboStudio is a browser-based platform for designing, simulating and running robot models: an in-browser physics simulator, a file/project workspace, and optional paid cloud compute instances that run a real ROS 2 stack (a code-server IDE with shell access on our AWS account) plus the ability to export ROS packages for use outside the platform. A public, no-sign-in showcase demonstrates the simulator without an account.

Accounts and age

Account creation and sign-in are handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the service. You are responsible for the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the content of the robot models, code, workspace files and world configurations you create or upload, for keeping any credentials you store in your workspace secure, and for complying with the Acceptable Use Policy and all applicable law while using the service.

Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are billed monthly through Clerk Billing. Clerk, not RoboStudio, collects and processes your payment card details — card data never reaches RoboStudio's servers. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled; you can cancel at any time from your account's subscription management page, and paid features remain active until the end of the billing period already paid for. Compute credits included with a plan reset each billing period and do not roll over.

Refunds are not given for partially used billing periods except where required by law. If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or European Union, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract for digital services within 14 days of purchase without giving a reason. Because subscribing gives you immediate access to paid compute and IDE features, starting to use a paid plan is treated as your express request that we begin performance immediately during the withdrawal period; you acknowledge that, once you have used the paid service in that way, you lose the right to withdraw once performance is complete, and that any partial use may reduce a withdrawal refund proportionately.

Compute credits for a cloud instance are metered from the moment it is actually running and reachable, not from when you click resume. If a resumed instance fails to come up (for example it is stuck starting) you are not charged compute credits for that time, and the instance is automatically suspended after a short grace period rather than left billing indefinitely. The plan's daily standing charge for a provisioned instance (covering reserved storage and compute capacity) applies separately, whether the instance is running, starting or suspended, until it is destroyed.

Intellectual property

Robot models, code, meshes, workspace files and exports (URDF, ROS 2 packages) you create are yours. You grant us only the rights needed to store, back up and process them in order to operate the service. RoboStudio and its underlying platform, simulator, in-app IDE and infrastructure remain the property of OJ Labs Ltd.

Acceptable use

Use of the service is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy, which prohibits activity such as crypto-mining, attacking or scanning third parties, unlawful content, attempting to escape a cloud instance's sandbox or access other tenants' data, and reselling the service.

Suspension and credits

Cloud compute instances run on paid credits. If an instance runs out of credit it is suspended: it stops running but its workspace is not immediately deleted. If credits are not restored, a suspended, idle, out-of-credit instance and its workspace (stored on AWS EFS) are permanently deleted after the configured reclaim period, currently 7 days from suspension. We may also suspend or terminate an account immediately for breach of the Acceptable Use Policy or these terms.

Termination

You may stop using the service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these terms, non-payment, or as required by law. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of amounts already paid except as required by the withdrawal right described above or by law.

Availability — no SLA

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free or continuous availability, and there is no service level agreement. We may change, suspend or discontinue features of the service.

Robotics safety disclaimer

Simulation results, generated code and exported ROS packages are non-certified engineering artefacts, produced by an in-browser physics approximation, not a certified safety system. They are not fit, and not certified, for safety-critical use or for controlling physical robots without independent validation. If you export or otherwise use anything produced by RoboStudio to run on physical hardware, you are solely responsible for independently testing, validating and safety-reviewing it before deployment, and for complying with all local laws and standards governing robot and machine safety in the jurisdiction where the hardware operates. Do not deploy anything produced by this service to a physical robot capable of causing injury or damage without that independent validation.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, and we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Reporting infringing or abusive content

Users can upload robot models, meshes, code and other files, and can publish projects to the public showcase. If you believe something hosted on RoboStudio infringes your copyright or other rights, or breaches the Acceptable Use Policy, use our contact form with enough detail to identify the material (a link or project reference), a description of the right you hold, your contact details, and a statement that your complaint is made in good faith. We will review valid reports and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the material. Accounts that repeatedly infringe others' rights will be terminated.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do; continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
